This is the full, raw conversation I had on AM800 CJBQ — where I opened up about years behind the camera in the OHL, my health fight, and how Junior Hockey Giants: Road to the NHL came to life.

This morning I joined Tim Durkin on AM800 CJBQ to reflect on two big arcs of my life — the hockey I documented, and the battles I didn’t see coming.

For 15 years I photographed the OHL. I captured rookies, heartbreaks, breakthroughs, and dreams inching toward the NHL. That work gave me deep respect for the players, the families, and the behind-the-scenes stories.

Then life hit me with something bigger than any puck battle — a health crisis that nearly ended it all. Recovery was messy, slow, and humbling. But it gave me a new perspective on grit, identity, and what really matters.

In this interview, we talk about:

  • What it was like behind the scenes in junior hockey

  • How my health journey reshaped everything

  • Why Junior Hockey Giants had to be written
